10 Things to Sort Before You Move Home

For those who have had to go through it in before (and also for those who can imagine what the process is like) moving house takes a lot of effort and you can often find yourself worked up into a bit of a state, if you don’t have a clear idea of what you need to do. There are a lot of things that you need to take into consideration and if you choose to do a lot of it yourself, you’ll want to make sure that you have some sort of moving checklist to take you through the process. There’s no need to worry, as there are a number of resources out there to help you to make sense of it all and our moving house checklist should take a lot of worry off your shoulders.

  1. Pack up all of your possessions one week ahead of your move. It gives you chance to get rid of all the things you don’t want to bring with you.
  2. Draw up a list of all the large objects in your home and ensure that you know there whereabouts through the whole process.
  3. Make arrangements to shift your energy supplies from one property to the next.
  4. Ensure that if you have any pets, they have somewhere to stay while you carry out the move.
  5. Get rid of all flammable objects from your home, as you won’t be able to take them with you as you move. Few man and van firms will carry them in their vehicles.
  6. No moving house checklist would be complete without mentioning that you have to make sure that you’ve sorted out your keys before you arrive.
  7. Do final checks, just to clarify that you haven’t left anything behind and that you’re sure of what you’re bringing with you.

If this moving checklist hasn’t suppressed your anxiety and you’re still having any doubts about what else you might need to sort of for your house move, there’s a helpful list of the things you need to think about here.

Bed in Bag – Practical and Cost Effective

In all honesty, it has to be said that we were not entirely sure what was mean by bag in a bag the first time we heard about, but it turns out that they’re a lot better than is expected. You can come up with all sorts of ideas of what such a thing is, based on just its name along, but it turns out that it’s a great solution to all of the issues that many people have with sleeping bags. Although they might be suited for the odd occasion when children maybe stop over at someone else’s house overnight (like at a friend’s for a sleepover) the wear and tear can mean that they’re not very useful after a few months. For this reason, you’ll want to get something with a bit more longevity and can take the strain that you throw at it.

To give you a better understanding of what exactly you’re getting with a bed in a bag is that it’s a sort of cushioned mattress, rather than a more conventional sleeping bag sort of set up. This means that you’re getting far more comfort out of it and that it will also last a lot longer, because it’s made in a way that is intended to last for a lot longer than, say, whatever you were using beforehand. What we would say is that it makes things a lot more suitable for parents who tend to leave their children at their grandparent’s homes or at friend’s house quite often, because you’ll soon find that you have to keep replacing them, if you go for the wrong one. They are easily stored, reasonably priced and you’ll appreciate the boost that it gives to your children in getting them to sleep in places other than their bed.

Among the many that you can find, you should check this one out as an example. It provides food for thought on how you would be able to incorporate it into your life and what function it would play to your children (who are supposedly going to be the ones using it more than anyone).
